Say hello to Flutterbye! :)

Name: Flutterbye.
Type: Rainbow Pony (pegasus).
Year: Year 3 (1984-1985).
Pose: Surprise Pose (1984).
Color: Peach-colored body, purple eyes and rainbow colored hair: peach, pink, aqua and neon yellow.
Symbol: Four glittery magenta butterflies.

Source: ponylandpress.com

This is Flutterbye after being washed, (gently) scrubbed and her hair washed with shampoo and conditioner. Her tail is still a frizzy mess, and so is the front part of her mane. I decided to try the “boiling water method” for the first time, dipping her mane in boiling water and then comb flat. It helped a little, but not enough, so I decided to use a hair straightener on low heat. This worked well!

Left her over night with her hair twisted around her legs and neck for a nice shape. And voilà! Perfect ♥

Silky hair! :)

Salty

Name: Salty.
Type: Big Brother.
Year: Year 5 (1986-1987). Re-released in Year 6.
Pose: Tex Pose (1986).
Color: Dark blue body, lavender hair with a pink strip, yellow eyes.
Symbol: A pink and white ship and three white waves. He came with a green bandana and a white sailor hat.

The Big Brother ponies are larger than other ponies, and they have shaggy hooves. They were introduced in Year 5, and were the first male My Little Ponies. They are all earth ponies. Each Big Brother pony has two colors in his mane and one in his tail, like early unicorn ponies had. Source: http://www.ponylandpress.com

My Salty is missing his hat.

Came across some My Little Pony stuff in London! A cute sweater, mug and Rainbow Dash plush travelled back home to Norway with me.

Not MLP, but still supercute! Dress from Hell Bunny.

I got one of my best friends’ baby girl a custom made pony, from my heart to her ♥. Original first generation pony, my favorite pose (bow-tie), purple with lighter gradients, curly heartthrob hair, blue eyes and her name on the DS side and her birth date on the NDS side. Made after my wishes by brilliant Isabella/customsbypandabear. Isn’t she gorgeous!

Love my new sweater :)

Nibbles: What do you want for Christmas, Dibbles?
Dibbles: Well.. I can’t find my rattle anywhere :( I think it’s lost for ever. I want a new rattle for Christmas.
Nibbles: Me too.

Baby Sweet Steps: Well I want another trophy. I just wanna dance all day long!

Tiny Tabby: I want a new comb, and a teddy bear, and a super soft bed that I can jump on, and I want.. SNOW! Do you think it will snow yet? And I want candy! Can I have candy?

Tiny Tabby: And I want shoes in all the colors in the world. Look at my new shoes, do you like them?

Nibbles: Those are not your shoes, silly. They’re too big for you!

Tiny Tabby: Let’s play dress up, Nibbles!
Nibbles: Pink shoes! I am a princess! You can call me Princess Nibbles from now on.

Dibbles: Hello! I’m a… what am I??
Tiny Tabby: You are cool!
Nibbles: Very cool, Dibbles.

Baby Sweet Steps: Check this out! I think I could get used to this.
Tiny Tabby: It’s perfect. It’s very you.

*Everybody screaming*

Baby Bouncy: Sorry, I thought it would be funny.
Baby Sweet Steps: I though it was funny.
Nibbles: It was NOT funny! You scared me.
Tiny Tabby: I wanna be a pink ghost next time!

Newest member in my collection: Flatfoot Minty from 1982, she came today. I have already given a presentation of Collector Minty, you can read about her here. What is the difference between Minty year 1 and Minty year 2?

Flatfoot ponies were the first My Little Ponies, printed in Year 1 (1982): Minty, Cotton Candy, Snuzzle, Blossom, Butterscotch and Blue Belle. They are called flatfoot ponies because the underside of their hooves are flat, while any other pony printed later than 1982 have concave hooves. The Flatfoot Pose was never used again in its original form.

All six ponies in the Flatfoot set were reprinted the following year in the Collector pose. These ponies are called Collector ponies, and are very similar to the Flatfoot ponies. They have the same names, symbols, colors and accessories, but they are slightly bigger, have longer front legs and concave hooves, and their head is held a little higher.

Flatfoot Minty

Flatfoot Minty (year 1) vs. Collector Minty (year 2). You can see Collector Minty has longer front legs and that Flatfoot Minty’s feet are closer together. Also you can see Collector Minty has her head held a little higher.

Minty came with a basic combe and a ribbon.

Trickles

Trickles, who I also got from a friend of mine, also got a little makeover. I’m not going to post step-by-step pictures this time, but if you’re interested in those, you can check out Daddy Bright Bouquet’s makeover.

The before pictures:

After a good wash and hair treatment:

Name: Trickles
Type: Rainbow Pony
Year: Year 3 (1984-1985)
Pose: Posey Pose (1984)
Color: Yellow body, rainbow colored hair (peach, pink, aqua and neon yellow) and green eyes
Symbol: Three glittery red watering cans

The Rainbow Ponies from the second set all have their hair in the colors peach, pink, aqua, and neon yellow. All of the Rainbow Ponies have glittery symbols.

I fell so in love with Trickle’s “new” tail, she’s perfect! ♥

Say hello to Trickles (Trickle’s meeting with dog)

For my birthday this summer, I got a few ponies from a friend, ponies that she had as a little girl. Daddy (and mommy and baby) Bright Bouquet from 1988 was one of them, he is very welcome in my collection. He had a lot of stains and marks on him and tangled hair, so he definitely deserved a makeover :)

A dirty and messy Daddy Bright Bouquet.

Ooh, do do do do do do do  Car wash, car wash ♫ Ooh, do do do do do do do ♫

First, a nice and good wash with a sponge and shampoo – both hair and body.
He also need a round of conditioner in his hair to make it smooth and shiny.

Using a soft toothbrush and toothpaste may help to remove stains and marks. Be careful around eyes and symbols! Daddy had several marks and stains, including one on his head that needed to be worked with.

Aahh.. Drying off and cuddling up in a clean towel :)
The stains, including the one on his head, are gone.

Combing his hair. Out and away with the mess.

To make his hair fall nicely, I turn his mane around the neck and his tail around his foot…

… and fold paper around to keep the hair into place until it has dried.

All done. Look at this handsome Daddy Bright Bouquet!

Other makeovers:
Locket’s hair makeover
Seashell’s makeover

Rearranging. I need more shelves, lol.

northstar

Name: North Star
Type: So Soft Pony
Year: Year 4 (1985-1986)
Pose: Lofty Pose (1985)
Color: Pink body, lavender hair and blue eyes
Symbol: A purple and blue compass and a star (closer look here (mylittlewiki))

North Star is my first So Soft Pony, welcome to my collection :) So Soft Ponies have a fuzzy, colored flocking that covers their bodies. North Star was also released as a non-So-Soft pony.

northstarlight(Just me playing with light :) )

Almost done with my thigh tattoo :)

Name: Baby Sweet Steps
Type: Baby Ballerina Pony
Year: Year 9 (1990-1991)
Pose: Baby Ballerina Pose (1990)
Color: Light purple body, dark pink hair, blue eyes
Symbol: Baby Sweet Steps wears a yellow molded-on leotord  with a pink bow on the chest and on her slippers.

Baby Ballerina Ponies came after the adult Sweetsteps Ballerina Ponies which was released the previous year. Like the adults, the Baby Ballerinas have movable legs and heads that can turn. So cute! My Baby Sweet Steps is the youngest in my collection (so far!), as I only collect the G1 ponies.

Dance, Baby Sweet Steps! Do a pirouette :)

So cute ^^

Name: Banana Surprise
Type: Earth pony / Sundae Best Pony
Year: Year 6 (1987-1988)
Pose: Bow-Tie Pose (1987)
Color: Pink body, aqua hair, purple eyes
Symbol: A three-dimensional banana split

The Sundae Best Ponies were the first scented My Little Ponies. Banana Surprise has a light scent of banana and strawberry. Mine has no scent other than the typical sweet scent of My Little Pony, it smells good :) She has been taking good care of.

Long tail

Name: Braided Beauty
Type: Pegasus pony
Year: Year 6 (1987-1988)
Pose: Lofty Pose (1985)
Color: Aqua-green body, green, pink, yellow and white hair, purple eyes
Symbol: A pink braid with white hair tie

Brush n’ Grow Ponies have longer hair than other My Little Ponies. By giving the pony’s head clockwise half-turns, her long tail gets drawn back into her body (short tail), and by pulling the tail, you can draw it back out (long tail).

For my birthday last week, I got some ponies from a friend, ponies that she had as a little girl. They were in quite bad shape, but it meant a lot to me that I got them from her.

One of them were Daddy Apple Delight. I gave him a good wash, but I didn’t have a toothbrush to get rid of all the stains, so I’ll try to gently remove them later. But still, there’s a big change, and I look forward to clean the other ponies as well.

The tip of his tail is quite frizzy, even after I used conditioner. I’ve heard about different techniques such as hot iron, hairstraightener and boiling water, but I have never tried any of them, I’m afraid I’ll harm the hair. If anyone has experience with this, I appreciate any hints and tips :)

Name: Daddy Apple Delight
Type: Male earth pony/Loving Family Pony
Year: Year 7 (1988-1989)
Pose: Quarterback Pose (1987)
Color: White body, yellow hair and lavender eyes
Symbol: Green trees with yellow trunks, and yellow dots in groups of four

Daddy Apple Delight is part of the Apple Delight Family, and came with Mommy Apple Delight and Baby Apple Delight. The Loving Family Ponies came in family sets which consisted of a mommy pony, a daddy pony, and a baby pony (in the UK, each Loving Family pony was sold separately).

I am so excited and in love with my new tattoo. A thigh piece with My Little Pony theme. Looking forward to get it colored in a few months :)

Blossom enjoying blooming flowers.

“Evil witch Hydia is plotting from her Volcano of Doom to destroy Ponyland forever. When her first plan fails she covers Ponyland with a tide of purple ooze called Smooze. Is this the end of Ponyland? Join the ponies and all the magical creatures of Dream Valley as they race to undo Hydia’s evil plan.”

Today I watched My Little Pony: The Movie from 1986. I was curious about whether I had seen the movie when I was little (I was 3 years old in 1986), but I don’t think I’ve seen it before. It brought no memories, but it was a great pleasure to see the movie, and I could really relate to Baby Lickety-Split, one of the main characters. I guess many could :)

Sharing a few scenes with hurt Baby Lickety-Split ending up on the run with her friend Spike:

Baby Lickety-Split: I can do whatever I want! Besides, maybe someday, I will be a star.
Spike: I hope so. Just don’t do that step, okay?

Buttons: You spoiled the whole number!
Baby Lickety-Split: I thought my step was better. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to spoil everything.
Buttons: Oh, Lickety-Split, how could you be so selfish!

movie05

Spike: You can’t do this! Running away isn’t the answer!
Baby Lickety-Split: ♫ Why do they always have to tell me I’m wrong? Why must they make me feel like I just don’t belong? ♫

Baby Lickety-Split: ♫ No matter how I try I can’t seem to please (…) I’ll go it alone! Why must they criticize whatever I do? (…) Good-bye! So Long! Tah-Tah! Farewell! Too-da-loo! ♫

Spike: I’ll go with you!
Baby Lickety-Split: No, I don’t need you! I don’t need anyone!

Baby Lickety-Split: Hurry, Spike! Look! This is a great place!
Spike: A great place for what? My feet are killing me.
Baby Lickety-Split: To fly! Like Wind Whistler and North Star!
Spike: But they’re Pegasus Ponies! You’re just an Earthling. You can’t fly.
Baby Lickety-Split: Can too! I can do anything! Watch.
Spike: No! You’ll get hurt!

Baby Lickety-Split: We’re flying!
Spike: We’re falling!

Baby Lickety-Split: I guess I can’t fly.

Spike: I’ll give you a shove.
Baby Lickety-Split: I can do it myself. I’m too heavy, Spike.
Spike: It’s okay. Dragons are strong.
Baby Lickety-Split: But you’re just a baby dragon.
Spike: I’m still a dragon.

Spike: Feeling sorry for yourself isn’t going to improve the situation.
Baby Lickety-Split: I can’t help it. Everything looks so hopeless.

Small pleasures, like this unopened sticker-thing from 1986. Got it from a friend, made me really happy :)
